Erwan Le Grand appointed Chief Executive Officer of Première Urgence Internationale

Première Urgence Internationale is proud to announce the appointment of Erwan Le Grand as Chief Executive Officer. With over 25 years of experience in the humanitarian aid sector, he has been confirmed in this position after serving as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the organization for the past six years.
A life dedicated to humanitarian action
Erwan Le Grand’s career is inextricably linked to the history of Première Urgence Internationale. He entered the sector in the field, carrying out his first mission with Première Urgence in 1998 as a logistician in Iraq, before taking on coordination and management roles in complex contexts: Bosnia-Herzegovina, Albania, Abkhazia (Georgia), Kosovo, Guinea, Democratic Republic of Congo, Afghanistan, and Myanmar. He also consolidated his strategic expertise within UN agencies (UNODC) and as Director of the Sylvia Bongo Ondimba Foundation in Gabon. In total, he has led nearly a dozen missions for Première Urgence and Aide Médicale Internationale, of which he became General Delegate in 2009.
A cornerstone of the merger between Première Urgence and Aide Médicale Internationale in 2011, he helped build Première Urgence Internationale to structure its development before becoming its Deputy Director General. His appointment today as CEO is the natural extension of his deep commitment to the NGO’s mission.
A new strategic vision
Under his leadership, Première Urgence Internationale reaffirms its ambition to respond with agility to the most forgotten crises. Erwan Le Grand has defined six priority areas for the coming years:
- Strengthen its emergency response positioning and its presence in hard-to-reach areas
- Develop the economic model
- Reinforce our advocacy and visibility, based on the NGO’s legitimacy in the field
- Advance localization and developing strategic partnerships
- Supporting the evolution of governance
- Accelerate a reasoned digital transformation
With this appointment, Première Urgence Internationale writes a new page in its history. Under the leadership of Erwan Le Grand, the teams at Première Urgence Internationale will continue, more than ever, to pursue their shared commitment to maximizing their impact and continuing to act where the needs are most urgent.
