COOKIE POLICY

What is a cookie?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in the browser of your computer when you visit it. They are files of information unique to the user that the website can recognise the next time the user visits the website again.
There are several types of cookies: cookies used by the website which first stored the cookie on the computer, and cookies sent by third parties for advertising or audience analysis purposes, internal and external cookies.
A cookie does not necessarily contain your name or email address; it is more likely to be a unique identifier for your browser which records your use of the website. Cookies help the website work as expected, and they are used by most ecommerce sites.

Why are cookies used?

We distinguish between two types of cookies: ‘first party’ cookies we store ourselves which are essential to the function of the website, and ‘third party’ cookies stored by third parties, for the purpose of audience analysis, advertising or social networks.

First party cookies

Essential cookies

Some cookies are essential for ensuring a website can work as expected. These might be, for example:

  • Authentication cookies, which enable you to go into your account every time you visit;
  • Cookies related to cookie settings, which enable the website to register your cookie preferences on this site.

This type of cookie makes your navigation of the site easier and only the Première Urgence Internationale website is able to recognise them and ‘read’ them. By definition, these cookies cannot be deactivated.

Functional cookies

Other cookies are called functional cookies and are there to improve your navigation of the website. Likewise, using cookies means we can offer you articles based on articles viewed by users on the site.
Deactivating these cookies will prevent you from accessing all the services that we can offer you. Deactivating them can cause a malfunction of these services.

Audience analysis cookies

Audience analysis cookies help us to improve the user experience, and to optimise and increase traffic towards our website. We use services such as Google Analytics to understand how our visitors arrive at the website and how they use it. Our partners, such as Google and our service provider Widdil, store audience analysis cookies on behalf of www.premiere-urgence.org.
If you do not allow these cookies, it will be very difficult for us to improve your user experience.

Third party cookies

These cookies are stored by third parties that partner our website. They can be essential or functional to the service they are offering or for web analytics. You will also find cookies stored by Facebook and Google for their corresponding social networks.

We also offer personalised advertising. These cookies remember sites that you have previously visited and offer customised advertising, either based on sites you have visited, or ensuring you do not see the same advertising too many times.

Deactivating these cookies limits your use of these services (sharing information on social networks) or personalising the advertising you see (it will not prevent this advertising from appearing).

How do i deactivate cookies?

You can opt out of cookies and deactivate them in your browser. Each type of browser has a different configuration. It will be explained in your browser’s help menu, so you can find out how to manage your cookie choices.
